I am a composer, performer (and architect) focussing on creative and experimental approaches to composition, particularly electroacoustic works often with film. My work combines field and source recording, improvisation and other forms of live performance, computer-based sound processing and sound spatialisation. I collaborate with musicians, writing works for their instruments and my invented electro-acousmatic instrument, the Arachnophone. I use a mix of notation styles which vary from precise notation to graphical scores provoking spontaneous improvisation. A central question in my work is how to maximise human agency and musical authenticity in human-machine interactions during live performance.
